18 Doughty St & more TV to look out for

Iain Dale has asked me to make some more appearances on 18 Doughty St , so I will be on tomorrow at the slightly earlier time of 9pm-10pm on a new programme called Blogger TV. I had better get my nose into the newspapers and swot up on what's been going on ( not much as Parliament is off). I've had a bit of a break from UK politics over Christmas from me, (though US politics have had my engrossed attention. I'm now embarking on Noam Chomsky's Failed States after finishing Bon Woodward's State of Denial.)

I am waiting for the result of an alleged terror plot court case at the Old Bailey which is expected to end in the next month or so,which I have been following as closely as possible through UK and international media. You can expect to see and hear a lot more about this matter when the current trial ends (code-name Operation Crevice). Discussing Crevice details, especially in the wider context of UK terrorism with specific reference to July 7 is not possible at the moment because of reporting restrictions as the trial continues. However, when the trial ends in February/March, things will get very interesting...

Plus the 21/7 bombers go on trial this Thursday, won't that prolong reporting restrictions for even longer? That's handy.

Hope you are well. Steve

Such 'reporting restrictions' did not preclude the initial wild speculative reporting that told us that the (Crevice) ‘gang’ wanted to blow up the Ministry of Sound nightclub, Bluewater Shopping Centre and poison cups of Bovril at Premier league football matches. Such ‘confessions’ we are told were gleamed after hundreds of hours of tape recordings of the ‘gang’s’ discussions (one of the ‘gang’ members was 16 years old at the time).

The reporting restrictions seemed to come down when the more insidious evidence began to come to light.

This is all out there, so there is no worry of you being contemptuous in publishing this comment.

In what way will things become very interesting? Do you know something that we (who desperately try to follow such important cases, but are thwarted by the lack of reporting and the apparent lack of open judicial scrutiny) don’t?

I would say you wee not very respresentative of the "Right of Centre" blogasphere.

You seem to work at it though.Noam Chomsky is interesting on language of course but the political stuff is for children..

No system of security will be 100% effective.

Even with the KGB running things, it took until 1970s to kill the last of the anti-Russian Ukranian partisans. 30 years.

Hands up anyone who wants the KGB?

Hi Rachel

I did eventually get to see the programme, at midnight, when it was on play again facility. The sound quality was alright, but the streaming left the picture appearing more like a set of stills.

I thought that it was a shame that the topic of bullying on the web was not covered in as much depth as I would have liked, it kept wandering off track. However, I agreed with your point about tackling the ball and not the player. I think Iain's lack of legal knowledge on the subject leaves him open to attack.

I thought that Alex Hilton of Recess Monkey and LabourHome was very entertaining.

Here's hoping that the techie problem gets sorted out very quickly.
