18 Doughty Street again

Well, Iain Dale has asked me to be a pundit on 18 Doughty Street again, so I will be live on air trying to sound intelligent and well-informed from 10pm, over here at 18 Doughty Street TV.

Cue news-surfing and current affairs swotting, which is a useful excuse to have a break from the book. Oh, and I have some more news on that: I am beginning a novel as well. A novel which is nothing to do with terrorism, hooray!

Hi Rachel. I'm also a guest tonight, on at the same time as you are. Have you picked out your outfit yet? Me, I'm in such a dither about mine!

Just a quick note as am off to bed. Enjoyed watching 18 Doughty Street TV this evening and thought that you made some really interesting points.

Look forward to next week - is it going to be a regular thing on a Wednesday night?

I have seen you twice now on 18DS, and both times you said that you supported prisoners franchise. Thank you. It is not a popular cause, however, that does not make it wrong. It is like you said, remaining liberal in spite of suffering, whereas those onlookers desire to introduce extreme measures for what purpose?

The biggest problems I come across are other people's fear, prejudice and ignorance. I did not detect those in you. As for the prat who spouted off at your liberal views without knowing who you were and what you have gone through, nice put down!

It is a shame that the Prison Reform Trust has adopted the view that because it is a poisonous climate right now, to abandon speaking out for prisoners votes. Especially, as Ireland has passed a Bill allowing for prisoners to have the postal vote thanks in large part to the Irish Prison Reform Trust. It is a human right that this government keeps violating.

I have a blog at http://prisonersvoice.blogspot.com if you want to have a look, and you can contact me for more info if you wish to speak out further and have more ammunition for the opposition.
