More on Dad's M.P...

My dad has received a response from his M.P, Mr Charles Clarke; there is no apology, I understand, but a meeting is now offered, to which I am also invited, should I wish to attend.

I should very much like to attend. If you have any questions you should like me to ask in the meeting, please do leave your suggestions in the comments box. For myself, I shall simply be asking: why no 7th July Public Enquiry?

I think your question is the most pertinent and the one we most need an answer to. I would, however, like to know on what basis the Prime Minister based his assertion that the tragedy of July 7th had nothing whatsoever to do with the war in Iraq and what he thinks it is that is radicalising so many young Muslims. There is also the matter of the 2 hour wait for ambulances but I guess that's for the inquiry to discover, if we get one.

I'm relieved to hear that Charles Clarke has offered to meet your father and you, and I hope he does apologise for his rudeness. I look forward to hearing about the meeting.

Warm regards

I have two questions which I think you, indeed we all, may also want to know the answers to:
1. who is in charge of compiling the "narrative of events"?
2. when is the expected date of publication?

I hope the meeting goes well.

Don’t really ask that I was just being facetious.

Rachel, I wouldn't ask him Davide's question because you are almost certain to receive the 'pat' answer about Palestine (of which there is more than a warehouse full of grains of truth). You might also get off on a better footing if you Dad was also to be a tad more polite and approach him with a different attitude to "well done for fixing the meeting" which appeared from your commentary to be his previous opening gambit. As a much more junior functionary than the Homme Secretary, I can vouch for the fact that we can be offended too, and sometimes tend to over react. Then ask him the question that you are going to, because it is the one you need an answer to. All the best, and I hope it goes well.

Best of luck, but don't put too much hope in it (meeting my MP was a very frustratring exercise).

If you want to extend your question, you may want to ask about how July 7th has been used by the Government and Police since (specific questions on this could be numbers of stop and searches under Section 44, of subsequent arrests, of people being charged and of people being convicted - the only recent number I managed to find is what Sir Iain Blair said in early December: 130 arrests since July 7th).

A similar extension of your original question is asking about the bills MPs have been voting on since July 7th which deeply affect us and where the suicide bombings where used as justification. Pick any bills/acts you have issues with.

From my very limited experience and from reading about it, you should try to focus on closed questions that are harder to evade.

I think it will be difficult enough to get Clarke to give a straight answer for your first question.

So maybe your next question should be:

Why didn't you give me a straight answer as to why we have no public enquiry?

"How do you sleep?" would be a good start. You could move on to "Sir, have you no decency?"

Anonymous, if you want to make comments about Zionist entities and what have you can you make them on someone else's blog?

I would not willingly entertain a guest or have a meeting with someone who expressed the view that we should be 'throwing ourselves under Amerikkka's and Britian's evil military industrial complex ammunition trains or going to Iraq and helping the brave Iraqi freedom fighters and foreign jihadists by throwing ourselves in front of Chalenger tanks?' and as this is a personal blog and you are a guest here, I'm asking that you are polite, and stay on topic, if you can't stay on topic then I'm going to remove the comments.

I don't have to throw this blog open for every anti Semite conspiracy theorist to come along and spam me with irrelevant contributions: you can start your own blog and say this kind of thing.

For the record, I do not think bombing Israel, or anywhere else, throwing myself under a tank or joining in a war is a good idea and conducive to achieving peace and justice, no.

If you have a read, you should be able to see why I think bombing, suicide, murder and violence are not good ideas.

Ok, Ok some of the things I wrote might have seemed a tad harsh. However I am very ANGRY! Like you guys I am not angry at the London bombers, it was all are fault and we had it coming.

I think we could all agree that it's about time that we Brits apologized for the Crusades. Yes the same crusades that happened over 800 years ago. However, if memory serves and it certainly does, there was a certain Richard the Lionheart who seemed to relish slaughtering peaceful Palestinians(yes they were even being oppressed then) I don't think Richard was English, probably of Norman origans, but lets not quibble. Muslims demand an apology now, and I think it would be a good first step in rebuilding bridges to this community. It might even head off the next attack that is surely being planned as we speak.

Thoughts?

Richard was French, did not even speak English, basic rule of European politics, blame it on the Frogs.

I appologise for all actions of every one every where

like that is really going to make any difference?

I am asking people if they have any questions to ask Mr Clarke in this comments section.

Please note. I would prefer to keep it on topic, it is confusing if there are lots of different off-topic discussions going on, and I suggest this isn't the place to discuss the Crusades,

Thank you.

Rachel

Other questions regarding the "narrative of events" you could ask are
3. what power does the official compiling the narrative have?
4. from what sources is he/she compiling the narrative?
5. will he/she be able to question MI5 about their detailed knowledge of the alleged bombers? If not, why not?

"Congratulations on fixing the meeting so that nobody can ask questions!" is not paticularly polite now, is it. So while "Get away from me, I will not be insulted by you, this is an insult" may be taking things a little bit too far, it seems quite reasonable to me.

Ask him why any sane person should ever vote New Labour ever again. Ask him how the worker's party became so deluded and arrogant. Then ask him when is the latest Blairspeak-English dictionary coming out so we can understand his answers. Oh, and ask him if he has any free mortgages left!
This IS an insult

Rachel,

I’m sorry if I seem off topic, but this question about the Crusades should be the one your father asks Mr. Clarke, why oh why on this good green earth hasn’t the Blair government apologized for the Crusades. (Please no giggling in the back) You don’t realize how hurt Muslims feel about what happened in Palestine 800 years ago. A millennium is nothing for these people, my wife can trace her ancestry right back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him, she is a direct descend for those of you who care to know) Saying sorry even after what seems an interminable time can work wonders. I’ll give you an example, my great-uncle was a Governor of the Palestine Mandate in the 30’s, as soon as I was old enough to realize the gravity of my family’s involvement in the partition of Palestine and the eventual genocide and ethnic cleansing of millions and millions of Palestinian Muslims I could not rest until I felt that those responsible were brought to justice. I have since apologized to every Muslim I meet (that’s how I met my wife) for my ancestor’s involvement in what is history’s biggest crime against humanity. Rachel, it makes a world of difference and some Muslims have actually said, “it was ok” they are not mad at me.

Another topic your vicar father might bring up with Mr. Clarke is the spreading problem of Islamaphobia; I have experience this personally in my daily affairs. After I accepted Islam after the Sept 11 “attacks”, I grew a very public beard and started wearing shawar kameez just like our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) wore in the seventh century. I have been teased relentlessly in public and at work, and it makes me VERY angry! What are Muslims like me supposed to do when we are daily humiliated by stares and sniggering.
